Assistant Manager - Sauna Social Club

(Full-Time)

Location: Sauna Social Club, Peckham

Hours: Full-time 40-hours per week, including weekends and evenings.

Salary: £34,000 - £36,000 per annum, depending on experience. Sauna membership and staff discounts.

This role is perfect if you are detail-oriented, motivated, and genuinely love hospitality. You’ll enjoy maintaining high standards, motivating a team, and keeping operations running smoothly. You take pride in systems and processes, and you’re confident in improving and implementing them day to day. You're not afraid to get hands-on with cleaning and maintenance to ensure customers have the highest quality experience during their visit.

 

You’ll bring prior hospitality or venue management experience and be looking for the next step in your career. If you perform well, this is a role with opportunities to grow, take ownership, and develop your leadership skills. We have plans to expand next year and are building the team now to grow with us.

The Role

You will work closely with the Venue Manager, and the venue team of supervisors and hosts. You will spend the majority of your time in the venue hosting, with some office time given for admin/maintenance tasks.


Responsibilities

  • Be a welcoming and knowledgeable presence in the venue. Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure all staff uphold the same standards.

  • Oversee handling of bookings enquiries and issues.

  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, atmosphere, and presentation.

 

  • Lead and motivate the team during shifts, ensuring smooth communication and clarity of responsibilities.

  • Support the Venue Manager with staff scheduling, training, and recruitment.

  • Provide coaching and feedback to hosts and supervisors.

  • Act as the main point of contact when the Venue Manager is off-site or on leave.

 

  • Support the day-to-day running of the venue, including stock management, merchandising, and session coordination.

  • Monitor and report maintenance issues promptly. Lead on designing and upholding a program of maintenance.

  • Contribute to reporting, summarising key observations and customer feedback.

  • Support the Venue Manager with program coordination across creative wellbeing, special events and private hires.

 

  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene throughout the venue.

  • Act as the designated responsible person during shifts including fire, first aid, and incident response.

  • Work in partnership with the Venue Manager to cover the on-call rota, including responding to occasional urgent operational issues or staff queries outside of normal working hours.

 

  • Identify training needs or opportunities for the team and self.

  • Take ownership of smaller projects or operational improvements.

  • Support the Venue Manager and Leadership Team in developing future venues and expanding opening hours.


Person Specification


Essential

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality or a similar customer-facing environment.

  • Confident leading and motivating a team during busy shifts, ability to stay calm under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail and sense of pride in presentation, hygiene, and safety, with a commitment to following and improving systems and processes.

  • Willingness to get hands-on with cleaning, maintaining exceptionally high standards.

  • Clear, kind, and professional communication with both customers and colleagues.

  • Comfortable managing stock, maintenance reporting, and shift planning.

  • Collaborative approach with a willingness to step into any role as needed to support the team.

  • Able to work evenings and weekends and be part of an on-call rota, with a positive, adaptable attitude.


Desirable

  • Hands-on skills for maintenance of equipment and space.

  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures, including first aid, fire safety, and incident response.

  • Experience in recruitment, training, or coaching staff.

  • Interest and experience in music, wellness, and community building.

  • Local knowledge of Peckham and the surrounding area.
